No-confidence motion against PM successful for first time in Pakistan history: Imran Khan ‘out’
The opposition’s no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan in the National Assembly won with 174 votes, after which he became the first Prime Minister of the country against whom the no-confidence motion has been successful.
Earlier, as per the directions of the Supreme Court, during the sitting of the lower house of parliament on the no-confidence motion, after the announcement of resignation by Speaker Asad Qaiser, PML-N MPA and former Speaker Ayaz Sadiq convened the meeting. Began the presidency.
Speaker Asad Qaiser came to the House and told the members that in view of the ground realities I have decided to resign from my post and asked Ayaz Sadiq to continue the proceedings of the meeting as a member of the panel of chairman.
Ayaz Sadiq, as a member of the panel of chairs, presided over the National Assembly session and initiated action on the no-confidence motion moved by the Leader of the Opposition.
Government members walked out of the assembly and vacated the seats, but Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ali Muhammad Khan remained in the house during the voting.
Ayaz Sadiq ordered to close the doors of the House and said that the sitting has to be adjourned at 12 o’clock as the new day will start and said that voting is being allowed under the order of the Supreme Court.
Ayaz Sadiq, while reading out the no-confidence motion, said that the Prime Minister’s House expresses no confidence in Imran Khan.
He then began the voting process and adjourned the meeting for two minutes at 12 noon.
After a two-minute break, the House resumed its session. After the recitation of the Holy Quran and Naat, the national anthem was recited.
Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) MPA Naveed Qamar presented the resolution.
Ayaz Sadiq announced that 174 out of 342 members of the National Assembly had voted in favor of the no-confidence motion.
Ayaz Sadiq said that nomination papers for the new Prime Minister could be submitted till 2 pm and the election of the new Prime Minister would be held on Monday, April 11.
The National Assembly session was adjourned till Monday, April 11.
We do not want to go into the bitterness of the past: Shahbaz Sharif
After the success of the no-confidence motion, the first to address was PML-N President Mian Shahbaz Sharif.
In his address, Shahbaz Sharif said that today we are all leaders, all members of the National Assembly, all allies of the united opposition and we are all prostrate before Allah and no matter how much we thank Him, it is not enough that a new dawn is about to dawn. A new day is coming.
He said that the prayers and efforts of millions of people, mothers, daughters, and elders of Pakistan have been accepted by Allah.
He said that he saluted the leaders of the united opposition for their unity, solidarity, and extreme discipline, which is rarely seen. In this regard, former President Asif Ali Zardari, Maulana Fazlur Rehman. Bilawal Bhutto, Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Akhtar Jan Mengal, Nawabzada Bugti, Ameer Haider Hoti, Khalid Magsi, Aslam Bhootani, Ali Nawaz Shah, Tariq Cheema, Mohsin Dawar, Ali Wazir and all the millions and millions of Pakistanis connected with them. He said that how the three-time Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was sent to jail, we do not want to go into the bitterness of the past, and want to forget the bitterness and move on.
“We want to heal the sorrows and wounds of this nation. We will not take revenge on anyone, we will not do injustice or abuse to anyone,” he said.
Shahbaz Sharif said that we will not send innocent people to jails but the law will take its course, justice will take its course, in this neither I, nor Bilawal Bhutto, nor Maulana Fazlur Rehman and anyone else. Will intervene.
He said that the word of justice would prevail, the judiciary would be respected sincerely, the country would be run in consultation with the institutions and Pakistan would be made the Pakistan of Quaid-e-Azam.

He said that we respect the decision of the Supreme Court but the supremacy of the parliament must also be protected. If the judiciary has to decide the time of the session then wrap up the parliament. The court cannot interfere in the work of the parliament which is within the constitution. We are not ready to give the power of the parliament to anyone else.
Asad Omar said that in the case of the letter, we had tried to take the opposition into confidence, they were invited for a briefing on the letter but it did not come, it is still time to call a camera briefing and get a detailed briefing. If they do not agree, it is their decision.
He said that in the end, I want to tell the nation and members that this is the struggle for independence and sovereignty of Pakistan, Imran Khan has worked hard for 25 years and will continue to do so and his lions will stand by him.
Supreme Court suo motu notice
Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Umar Ata Bandial had taken suo motu notice of the political situation that had arisen after the no-confidence motion against the Prime Minister was rejected by the opposition in the National Assembly by Deputy Speaker Qasim Suri.
Apart from the suo motu notice, petitions were also filed in the apex court by various parties on which a one-member larger bench was constituted for hearing.
In the preliminary hearing, the apex court had directed all political forces and state institutions to play their role in accordance with the constitutional limits and said that all orders of the prime minister and the president would be subject to the final decision of the apex court.
The Chief Justice said that no government body would act unconstitutionally, all political parties and government bodies would not benefit from this situation.
