Election of new Leader of the House, Nomination papers of Shahbaz Sharif and Shah Mehmood submitted
Nomination papers have been submitted for the election of Leader of the House in the National Assembly where PTI has submitted nomination papers of Shah Mehmood and United Opposition has submitted nomination papers of Shahbaz Sharif.
It may be recalled that a no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan was passed in the National Assembly last night after which he resigned from the post of Prime Minister.
On Sunday, Malika Bukhari received nomination papers from the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for the post of Prime Minister.
Malika Bukhari said that after consultation in the core committee, they will decide to submit nomination papers.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) National Assembly member Zain Qureshi also reached the Parliament House and said that the field should not be left empty.
He said that it was the decision of the party and it was up to the party to decide who should be nominated for the post of Leader of the House.
Later, PTI submitted nomination papers for Shah Mehmood Qureshi as Prime Minister.
Shah Mehmood Qureshi has submitted 4 forms in the National Assembly Secretariat in which Amir Dogar, Ali Muhammad Khan are the endorser and certifier respectively.
PPP leader Naveed Qamar said that Shahbaz Sharif’s nomination papers for the post of Prime Minister were being submitted.
United Opposition submits nomination papers for PM, Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif submits nomination papers himself.
Shahbaz Sharif’s 13 nomination papers have been submitted in which Khawaja Asif and Rana Tanveer are his supporters and confirmers.
Wants peace with India: Shahbaz Sharif
Prime Minister-designate Shahbaz Sharif in an informal private conversation with the media said that they want peace with India but peace is not possible without resolution of the Kashmir issue.
“National unity is our first priority and the new cabinet will be formed in consultation with the opposition leaders,” he said.
He further said that efforts would be made to improve the economy of the country and provide relief to the people, usher in a new era in the country, and promote mutual respect.
When Shahbaz Sharif was asked when Nawaz Sharif would return and what would happen to his cases, he replied that Nawaz Sharif’s cases would be dealt with according to law.
On the other hand, during the nomination and scrutiny of the election of the Leader of the House, changes have been made once again at the request of the PTI.
The submission and scrutiny of nomination papers for the election of the Leader of the House in the National Assembly will take place at a pre-determined time.
The time for submission of nomination papers for the election of Leader of the House is only at 2 pm and scrutiny of nomination papers will be done at 3 pm.
The opposition delegation called on the Secretary National Assembly and demanded the withdrawal of the change in time for the submission of nomination papers.
Opposition leaders included Naveed Qamar, Atta Tarar, and Shaza Fatima.
Meanwhile, the time of the meeting of the National Assembly to be held on Monday, April 11, 2022, has been changed, and now the meeting will be held at 2 pm instead of 11 pm.
